Abstract

study was conducted to apply the newly emerging sciences of tissue 1ring in the field of removable prosthodontics, aiming to improve the yand morphology of the residual ridge supporting the dentures.
rk consisted of two main parts:
r Fabrication, Characterization, lyophilization, and sterilization of biodegradable polymer scaffolds
Using experimental animals to test the tissue response to the scaffolds and the byproducts of their in-vivo degradation.
materials used in the present study were biodegradable polymers isting of 50/50, 65/35 and, 75/25 poly (DL-lactide-co-glycolide) materials originally were in the form of solid crystals light gold in lor. Crystals of different polymers were dissolved in organic solvent ,ioroform) forming thick solutions that were casted in petri dishes -,ntaining sieved salt of desired particle sizes. Thin films of polymer trapping salt particles resulted after solvent evaporation. Polymer-salt instructs were injection molded to form hollow cylinders conforming to Je size of lower anterior teeth. These constructs were then immersed in Jeionized water under shaking conditions with constant change of water r complete removal of the entrapped salt leaving behind highly porous
scaffolds forming six distinct groups according to the type of used and the size range of the salt particles
