Abstract The expanded programme on lmmuniztion(EPI) is considered as one of the three main units of the global programme for vaccines and immunization. The achieve and maintain the university child immunization (UCI) goal (reaching 80% global immunization coverage rate) the integrity of the cold chain system must be guaranteed and secured all the time. Health authorities must take into consideration the main key elements of the cold chain system which are trained, well- supervised personal able to manage and monitor the vaccines and a well- maintained equipment to store and transport potent vaccines at proper temperatures. Assessment of the EPI must include evaluation of the knowledge and performance of the health care personnel, and well as assessment of the used equipments in addition to assess knowledge regarding adverse event following immunization AEFIs. The present study was conducted in hodeidah governorate and aimed at assessing the cold chain system at different levels , evaluating the knowledge and performance of health care providers, as well as assessing the knowledge of health care personnel regarding AEFIs, and revisisng surveillance system of AEFIs. The current study revealed the following results, which were presented in five sections: Section I: Assessment of the cold chain system at the office health affairs & health dstricts. The fieldwork of the present study revealed that the cold chain system at these levels fulfilled most of the vaccine handling rules and standard performance specifications for cold chain equipment. |
