Abstract Post partum haemorrhage is one of major causes of maternal •M’lality, about 25-40% per year of maternal deaths due to post partum icmorrhage. Post partum haemorrhage is a major maternal killer especially in developing countries . Active management of the third stage of labour and use of oxytocic drugs is important for prevention of post partum haemoimage and decrease of amount of blood loss during the third stage of labuu Oxytocic drugs as:- •Syntometerine. •Misoprostol. <Syntometerine is one of most common oxytocic drugs, used worldwide. It is composed of (1 ml ampoule which contains a combination of 5 IN oxytocin and 0.5 mg a methyl -ergometenno <Syntometerine is given by deep intramuscular injection or slowly direct intravenous or intravenous drip in 500ml of saline after delivery of the baby, but is contraindicated in pre-eclamptic oauent and asthmatic patient. Misoprostol is prostaglandin Ei analogue. It is one ui cheapest prostaglandins, easy used and storage. Used recently for prevention and treatment of post partum haemorrhage. Misoprostol is used for treatment of peptic ulcer, •nuuction of labour, termination of early pregnancy. Misoprostol is used by different routes oral, vaginas sublingual or rectal as in this study with 400u-g dose (2 tab of misoiac ) |
