Abstract Liver cirrhosis in Egypt constitutes a great socio economic problem . patients with liver cirrhosis often show cachexia and this is usually attributed to a number of factors , including ; inadequate intake , deficient secretion of bile and pancreantic juice , deficient enzymatic activity resulting from hypoproteinaemia , incomplete metabolism by the liver and other tisues and impaired absorption from the intestine (Enquist , 1965) steatorrhoea is a frequent. Finding in patients with chronic liver disease . it may be also suspected that the steatorrhoea chronic liver disease is due to an intraluminal deficiency of bile salts (badley ,1969).
