Abstract

In the current era of evidence-based medicine, there are demands to prove the effectiveness and benefits for medical interventions and to fulfill the criteria for good medical practice among infertile patients managed by Intrauterine Insemination (IUI).
The present work aimed to study the influence of various clinical and laboratory parameters on (IUI) outcome; pregnancy and abortion rates. Five hundred and eighteen (IUI) cycles were done for four hundred and twenty couples complaining of infertility, in Adam International Clinic, Giza, Egypt, from January 2000 up to September 2005.
This work aimed to study the effect of different clinical parameters on (IUI) outcome in a retrospective study of 420 infertile couples who underwent 518 (IUI) cycles, performed for treatment of infertility, from January 2000 through September 2005. The (IUI) procedures used for all patients were done in one place, and by the same operators. The pregnancy and abortion rates were measured in relation to different clinical and laboratory parameters..
There were significant high pregnancy rates with abstinence period S 3 days, total motile count before processing between 50-100 millions, progressive motility percentage before processing : 50%, rapid motility percentage before processing? 25%, abnormal forms < 95, no evidence of leucocytospermia, sperm count after processing> 10 millions/mI and when rapid motility percentage after processing? 25%.
