Abstract
Peritoneo —venous (Denver) shunt is a simple, safe and successful operation for patient with intractable hepatic ascites. It improves patient’s quality of life and provided certain caution is adopted in the operative technique and pen-operative management and, it has no mortality and low morbidity and good success rate.
It also, has its beneficial effects on the liver and kidney functions as shown in the improvement in the serum level of albumin, bilirubin and liver enzymes.
