Abstract

The principal centre for the talus appears between seven and half months intrauterine and two months after birth. The talus may be ossified from more than one centre. The secoadary centre of ossification is deposited in the posterior portion of the posterior process which may separate and forind the os—trigonum. This centre appears between eii.t to eleven years of age
The talus receives no muscle atcachmezit . It is composed of three parts, Head , Neck and body It has got many articular surfaces and only a small area left for blood vessels to supply it
The talus receives its bicod supply from three main
sources
(1) The posterior tibial artery
(2) The anterior tibi2l artery or dorsalis pedis artery
(3) The peicucal artery
The main blood supply to the body enters through the superior surface of the neck
Clascificotion of Injuries
Injuries of the talus were classiflf according to:
10 Number cf joints involved as primary , secondary and tertiary (Bonnin,l940 Classification )
