Abstract Anterior knee pain is common complaint in orthopedic practice. It is common in adolescence. it is not always possible to make a definitive diagnosis, as not all of the patients have chondromalacia patellae, although it is the most frequent cause of pain in the front of the knee. Cartilage lesions are not always present on the knee cap of those complaining of anterior knee pain and even when they are present, they can seldom be hold responsible for the pain. To reach a diagnosis for anterior knee pain we must first search for the cause of pain and consider the following. 1- Referred pain e.g. slipped capital femoral epiphysis. 2-Trauma as cause of knee pain. 3-Synovitis. 4-Arthritis. 5-Generalized muskoiskeletal disorders. 6-Neuromuscular disorders. 7-Tumours. |
