Abstract

This work is an attempt to evaluate the effect of praying on hidden psychosomatic disorders in apparently healthy individuals.
It also aimed to evaluate the effect of praying if any on the blood glucose level and lipid profile in a group of NIDDM.
The material of the present study comprised two groups, group I, comprised 90 male subjects and group II, 20 male diabetic irregular prayers.
The group I, was subdivided into three subgroups according to practice and regularity of Islamic praying:
Ia. Regular prayers.
Tb. Irregular prayers.
Ic. Prayers on occasions.
Group Ia : Included 30 subjects with regular praying five times per day dawn, noon, afternon, sunset and evening praying, either in mosques, home or during their work in proper time (without any delay or coupling two or more praying together).
Group lb : Included 30 subjects who are irregular prayers practicing praying irregularly with the habit of coupling two or more times together and without the habit of getting up early at dawn.
