Abstract This study was carried on two groups of patients with cancer colon, the Iirst group was open resection of cancer colon mid the second group was laparoscopic resection. Thirty seven patients were included in our work, 24 cases were sLibmitted to open colonic resection and 13 cases were submitted to laparoscopic colonic resection. In the trst group the age ranged between 24—82 years with a mean of 59.9 167, while in the second group the age ranged between 31-81 years with a mean of 59.9231. Eighteen males and 19 females were found to have cancer colon in the present study, with male to female ratio 5:6 in open type and 7:6 in laparoscopic type. The main clinical manifestations of cancer colon were change of bowel habit, anemia, bleeding iier rectum, abdominal colic and distention, weight loss, abdoiiina[ mass, cachexia, intestinal obstruction and peritonitis in that order of frequency. |
