Abstract
This study is designed to evaluate the results of distal splenorenal shunt C DSRS ) in controlling haema_ temesis and melsena in patientg with chronic liver disease and portal hypertension.
The study included 5 patients, 3LL prospective Cases and 11 retrospective cases, All the patients were tudied Preoperatively, clinically, endoscopically, sOnograpt-ijcal1y and for liver function tests.
After operation, all cases were followed during the irst postoperative month fop detection of any ompljcation and assessment of Shunt patency and size of he spleen.
After different periods ( 3 — 22 months ), the Lying patients were called again to hospital for how up. They were examined clinically, encjo_ Copically, sonographjcaly and for liver function
