Abstract

Similarity transformation which essentially reduce the number of independent variables by one in partial differential systems, have been widely used in fluid mechanics and heat transfer. Also a pplied to convert a boundary value problem to an initial value problem and used to reduce the order of an ordinary differential equation. So the similarity solutions play an important male in hairy layer and magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), especially in boundary layer flows. Analytic methods bused on similarity transformations can also be applied for solving any system of linear an non-linear partial differential equation.
The study of free convection and mass transfer boundary layer flows through a viscous, incompressible electrically conducting fluid is considered very essential to understand the behavior of fluid motions in several applications. Laminar flow and heat transfer processes in non-Newtonian fluids play a key role in such vital industries as foods, polymer and petrochemical, where heat exchangers constitute an integral part of the processing equipments. In this thesis we study three heat transfer problems: in which two of them in non-Newtonian fluids past a semi-infinite vertical flat plate and cone surface. Such studies deal with the firmulation and the third is over a vertical analysis of the continuity, conservation of momentum equations and the equations of energy and diffusion including the possible physical processes of forced convection and mass transfer.
