Abstract

Antioxidant system is responsible for protecting the tissue from the effect of free radicals. The body possesses a number of mechanisms both to control the production of reactive oxygen spieces and to limit or repair the damage to tissues.Cardiovascular disease is responsible for about 40% of the death in industrialized countries and many deaths in developing countries. The beneficial effects of antioxidant vitamins in chronic coronary artery disease (CAD) is related to inhibition of oxidation of LDL-C The aim of this study was to investigate the possible relationship between vitamins E,C,A and sdenium intakes and coronary heart disease status as well as their beneficial effects on those patients. 60 adult male patients suffering from chest pain undergoing coronary angiography.
Statistically significant difference was observed in the mean levels in patients groups before and after treatment when compared to normal control it is recommended for healthy elderly population to have supplementation with antioxidant vitamins and minerals together might be beneficial in the treatment of the disease and may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease
