Abstract
The t h e s i s- c om-p ..r i ses four chap,,ters : C---- hapt e r- I :- It includes survey on the co-ordination chemistry of the rnacrocyc 1 ic complexes and the binuc lear metal macrocyclic complexes hp... 1-1 : - It includes the preparation of the tetraazamacrocyclic ligand and its macrocyclic nickel(I1) and c,:opper(II) complexes, template synthesis of The macrocyclic cobalt (11) and nickel (11) complexes and the physical measurements h.I:In this chapter, the resultr of the macrocyclic nickel (11) complexes were discussed.The reaction of furan -2,3- dicarbaldehyde and thiophen-2.3- dicarbaldehyde in the absence of nickel (11) acetate in ethanol were unsuccessful, whilst the reaction of furan-2,3 dicarbaldehyde and 1,3-diaminopropane in ethano 1 gives,difuran - 1,5,10,14- tetraazacycloocta -1,5,7,9,14,16- hexene ,macrocyc lic ligand (L) . The rnacrocyc 1 ic nicke 1 (I I) complexes (9 and 10) of ligand (L) were prepared by simple addition, whilst the macrocyclic nickel(I1) complexes ( 1,2 and 3 ) were derived from metal controlled condensation reactions between furan-2,3-dicarbaldehyde and thiophen-2,3 dicarbaldehyde with aliphatic diamines. The ir spectrum of the chloride complex (10) confirms.
