Abstract Heteroaromatics represent a very kqxrbant class of cornpovnds can form charge-transfer complexes with different acceptors. The present thesis includes a study of the CTcomplexes of some thiophene derivatives - I2 in chloroform arising to obtain more insight into the CT - interaction in this class of compounds . (1) In the first chapter, a general introduction is given. The introduction includes a historical survey of the subject, classification of electron donors, acceptors ad cornplexee. The structure and charge transfer spectra of molecular complexes, types of ionization potentials, experimental methods for determination of ionization potentials and finel.ly some aspects of CT-bomplexes of iodine and heteroaromatic compounds are as well given.(2) Chapter I1 includes the experimental details for purification of compounds, spectra procedures and computations. (. -.. 1. Chapter I11 comprises s disscusion for the band maxirxxs of the CT complexes between iodine and some thiophene deci, vatives. It was shown that some of the observed complexes exhibit a single charge transfer band while the others show two charge transfer bands. |
