Abstract this work i.s to produce a new Polymeric Supports containing reartive yrou~js and the investigation of their apI.)lications in Solid-Phase organic Synthesis in an attempt to achieve the requirements of ideal pclymeric s.upports. Beaded poly(methy1 methacryl-date) resins are a class of versatile functional polym2rs which provides potential functionalities for direct attachment or generation of a variety of functional groups for subseyuent utilization. Thlis, microporous and macroreticular poly(methy1 methacrylate) resins containing 2% and 20% DVB as crosslinker have been prepared by suspension polymerization technique under different conditions. Conversions of the ester groups of PMMA resins into more reactive derivatives were carried out by the amination and reduction to amine and hydroxyl derivatives. The acylation of the amine by the ester qrQilps of the polymer was carried out by treatment withethylenediamine , hydrazine, dibutylamine, and ethanolamine, whereas the replacement of the ester groups to hydroxymethy1 groups was achieved by reduction with LiA1H4 . These reactive polymeric products were applied for a further sequence of synthetic transformations to give a variety of polymeric onium salts. Polymeric onium salts based on PMMA derivatives possess remarkable activity as catalysts for nucleophilic displacement reactions in Organic - aqueous anion two-phase systems, relative to classical phase transfer agents. Preliminary experiments directed towards the applications and reactivities of these functionalized polymers indicated, however. |
