Abstract
The aim of the present work is to evaluate the environmental lead pollution slong the high ways in Egypt by measuring blood lead level and stadyiny some of its toxic effects on population inhabiting along Cairo-Alexandria high way and continuously exposed to motor vehicle emissions, The exposed group wss loo subjects selected from populations along the high way and away from urban areas. !he control group was loo subjects selected from sura,l populations living far from the high way. Both the exposed nnd control groups include males and femdle~ cf different ages. Each rnember from both proups was subjectea to thorough clinical sxamination m d . f-3 some laboratory investigations including determination of blood lead level and hemoglobin concentration.
