Abstract Studies on the interaction of s i l i c a t e glasses with aquecus solutions had been intensively developed for several decades along two main l i n e s , namely the chemical durability or corrosion of glass by aqueous solutions on the one hand and the glass membrane electrodes and the potentials they develop f n contact w3th aqueous solutions on the other, The term wchercical durabilityw haa been conventionally used for a long time to express the resistance offered by glass towads attack by aqueons solutions and atmosphezk agents. The attack of various aqueous solutions on s i l i c a t e glasses is not a simple dissolntion, but a complicated physicochemical process which comprip a number of reactionioccnring simultanea- sly at different r a t e s . |
