Abstract Thirty two friesian bull calves averaging 182 kg body weight and 11 months old were used %o determine t h e e f f e c t of feeding different sources and levsls of Non-Proteinnitrogen (NPN) on semen charactsristics. The animals were devided into four similar groups (8 per treatment) which were fed on t h e d i f f went concentrate mixtures as follows: Control ration (CR) Co-op cubes 100 % Poultry l i t t e r ration (PLR) Co-op cubes 68.4 % + yellow naize 7 % -+ poultry l i t t e r 24e6 % l Low urea ration (LUR) Co-op cubzs 57.9 % + yellow naize 40.7 % + urea la4 % High urea ration (mTR) Co-op cubes 31-0 % + yellow maize 66.0 7; -i- urea 2,6 $ The roughage portion i n the different dietary treatments was rice strow which incorporated by 43 % of the t o t a l daily ration . Semen was collected twice per week from each bull for a period of LO months and the data obtained could be summerized in the following : - 1- Poultry l i t t e r fed animals gave the significant ( P =& 0.01 ) greater nean ejaculate volume during the whole experimental period (2,83 ml, ) compared with the control (2,76 ml.), LUR (2.68 ml.) and HUB (2.53 ml. ) |
