Abstract Endoscopic injection sclerotherapy is a well established technique for treatment of bleeding oesophageal varices, it is a safe, effective, simple and rapid way in eradicating bleeding oesophageal varices. The main goal of therapy for bleeding oesophageal varices in patients with portal hypertension is to control bleeding and to keep or improve the liver functions, these were achieved by using endoscopic sclerotherapy. The technique was accepted as the only therapeutic line for certain cases who are unfit for surgery and those who rebleed after different surgical approaches for portal hypertension with low morbidity and mortality, low incidence of rebleeding and resulted in prolonged survival in such cases. This study was designed to describe the various signs of portal hypertension, by ultrasonic duplex doppler and to evaluate the portal haemodynamic changes, before and after endoscopic sclerotherapy of oesophageal varices in patients with portal hypertension . |
