Abstract A pot experiment was conducted during the successive two summer seasons of 2008 and 2009 at a wire proof green house of Sakha Agricultural Research Station, Kafr El-Sheikh, governorate, Egypt. The experiment aimed to evaluate the effect of nitrogen fertilizer levels (N0=without nitrogen fertilizer, N1=10 kg N/fed, N2=20 kg N/fed and N3=30 kg N/fed) and three nitrogen fixing bacteria (Control=without inoculation, AZ1 (Ga+650) and AZ2 (Ga+500) as Rhizobium strains) on nodulation, yield and yield components of guar plant grown on three( sandy, calcareous and clay soils) kinds different soil types. The experiment was conducted in a spilt plot design with three replicates. The highest value with sandy soil was obtained with N3AZ1 in 1st and 2nd season, respectively. In calcareous soil, the highest mean values of seed yield were obtained with AZ2 combined with 20 Kg N/fed , the same trend was in the clay soil in the 1st and 2nd season, respectively. The highest values of straw dry weight (g/pot), seed protein yield, straw protein yield, seed oil yield(g/pot) , N-content in seed, N-content in straw, N-content in seed, P-content in straw, K-content in seed (mg/pot) and K-content in straw (mg/pot) were obtained with N3AZ2 in 1st and 2nd season, respectively with sandy soil. While, the highest mean values of seed dry weight, straw dry weight (g/pot), seed protein yield, straw protein yield, seed oil yield(g/pot) , N-content in seed, N-content in straw, N-content in seed, P-content in straw, K-content in seed (mg/pot) and K-content in straw (mg/pot) was obtained with AZ2 combined with 20 Kg N/fed in calcareous and clayey soil in the 1st and 2nd season respectively. RECOMMENDATIONS: *Inoculating the seeds with effective and infective strains of guar rhizobia. *The best treatment to remove the toxic effect of guar seed was soaking for 24 hours in sterilized distilled water before use. *The best treatment to obtain high quality of component of yield and biological yield in sandy soil was N3AZ2 (30 kg N/fed and inoculation with AZ2 strains). *The best treatment to obtain high quality of component of yield and biological yield in calcareous and clay soil was N2AZ2 (20 kg N/fed and inoculation with AZ2 strains). |
