Abstract

The present study was conducted during the two seasons of 1987 and 1988 in an attempt to investigate the effects of number of shoots left on peach tree, nitrogen and potassium fertilization on yield and fruit quality. Content of some macro elements in the leaves and C/N ratio in pech shoots, were also examined.
The obtained results could be sammarized as follows:
I.Effect of pruning and nitrogen of potassium fertilization on yield and fruit quality :
1 - Leaving 150 shoots on peach tree gave a higher yield and number of fruits/tree than leaving 100 shoots.
2 - Nitrogen fertilization at 90 units/feddan significantly increased the yield and number of fruits/tree than using
60 or 120 units/feddan.
3 - Nitrogen application at 120 units/feddan gave the least yield and number of fruits/tree than the levels of nitrogen treatments applied.
4 - Potassium fertilization at 100 or 200 units/feddan gave no clear effect on yield and number of fruits.
