Abstract

The aim of this study is to survey and study the population density of some insect pests which infesting some certain ornamental plants and their associated predators. Also, laboratory experiments were carried out to evaluate the effect of prey types on certain biological characters of Chrysoperla carnea under constant temperature and relative humidity.Obtained results are as follows: 1- Five insect pests have been recorded infesting Hibsiscus plants at Mansoura district during the two years of study. These species belong to three orders namely Homoptera; Hemiptera and Lepidoptera 2- Three predators were recorded belonging to one order namely Coleoptera. These predators, which were found, S. interruptus C. undecimpunctata and Cy. vicina isis 3- Six insect pests have been recorded infesting Rose plants, belong to two orders namely Homoptera and Thysanoptera. These insect species were M. Rose, A. aegyptiaca, A.aurantii, M. personata, I.seychellarum, and R syriacus 4- four predators were recorded belonging to three orders, these orders were Coleoptera, Neuroptera and Diptera. These predators are R. cardinalis, S. interruptus, C. carnea and Metasyrphus corolla 5- The predators recorded on Ficus plants namely R. cardinalis, C. carnea and M. moragusi 6- The shortest developmental time was obtained when the larvae of C. carnea reared on M. Rosee, while the longiest developmental time was recorded on A. gossypii 7- The higest number of eggs obtained when females of C.carnea reared on G. ficorum followed by A. gossypii and M. Rosee and A. nerii
