المستخلص Agriculture plays an important role in Egyptian economy. Its share reachedabout 35 percent of gross national product and 42 percent of effective labour in 1977. Agricultural exports share in total value of Egyptian exports by more than one-third. Agricultural income is an important component of national income, where it reached about 2189 million Egyptian pounds, in 1977. Monofia is one of the front governorate with respect of agricultural production, where the agricultural income reached 185 million Egyptian pounds in 1977. Study of crop productivity classifications showed that 75 percent of monofia agricultural area are within the first class of the highest productivity. The reat of the area is within the second class. On other hand, the study showed that the labour and others are 721383 persons, representing about 42-16 percent out of governorate population. Cropping pattern trends showed that the cotton area in monofia decreased annually by 1.2 thousand feddans while it was 29.6 thousand feddans for the national cotton area. Also, wheat acreage was decreasing at annual ate of 1.560 thousand feddans for the governorate and 4.150 for the national acreage of wheat, while maize area of the governorate was increasing at higher rate than the national area. i.e. 9.7 thousand feddans and 19 thousand feddans, respectively. |
