Abstract Part I: Phytochemical study of the leaves of Polygonum lapathifolia L. Gray and Polygonum salicifolia Brouss ex. willd. Chapter I: Preliminary phytochemical screening Polygonum lapathifolia L. Gray and Polygonum salicifolia Brouss ex. willd. Chapter II: Phytochemical investigation of the leaves of Polygonum lapathifolia. Five compounds were isolated from Polygonum lapathifolia, which are Kampferol, Quercitrin, Gallic acid, Afzelin and 3-O-methyl-quercetin. Chapter III: Phytochemical investigation of the leaves of Polygonum salicifolia. Eight compounds were isolated from Polygonum salicifolia, they are: Isoquercitrin, Methyl gallate, Gallic acid, 3-O-methyl-quercetin, Rutin, Lupeol, β- sitosterol, and β- sitosterol-3-O-glucoside. Chapter IV: Comparative phytochemical investigation of P. lapathifolia and P. salicifolia Part II: Biological study of the leaves of Polygonum lapathifolia L. Gray and Polygonum salicifolia Brouss ex. Willd. This study includes Screening of the antioxidant activity, measurement of the potential cytotoxicity and antibacterial screening. Part III: Botanical study of the leaves of Polygonum lapathifolia L. Gray and Polygonum salicifolia Brouss ex. Willd. |
