Abstract

The study was intended to evaluate the success of immediate loaded implant in posterior maxilla using specially design bone expander. Fourteen patients were selected from Oral Surgery Department, Faculty of Dentistry – Mansoura University, for implant restoration for a single missing posterior maxillary tooth. All patients included within this study were equally divided into two groups: • Group I (Control Group): Seven patients were received classic implant in posterior maxilla with immediate loading. • Group II (Study Group): Seven patients were received a specially designed expander applied in posterior maxilla and subjected to immediate loading. Patients were evaluated at immediate postoperative period, then at three, six, nine and twelve months for clinical and radiographic evaluation. Radiographic evaluation involved periapical intraoral film and panoramic extraoral film. The clinical evaluation was involving assessment for implant stability, bleeding index, measuring the pocket depth as well as assessment for immediate post operative esthetic score. The results of this study showed no statistical difference in regard of clinical and radiographical findings in both groups except for better esthetic appearance for implants placed in premolar zone as a result of bone expansion.
