Abstract

The present study aimed to produce some fungal cellulases (endoglucanase, exoglucanase, CMCase, β-glucosidase and xylanase) using some agricultural residues through solid state fermentation (SSF) method by some local Aspergillus species. It also studied different environmental and physiological conditions affecting cellulases production. Furthermore, it studied physiochemical and kinetic properties of these enzymes. Samples of agricultural residues including; rice straw, wheat straw, bagasse, and corn straw were locally collected from different villages near Mansoura city in order to isolate different Aspergilli. Twelve Aspergillus species were isolated and well identified. The cultural conditions for cellulases production from A. fumigatus were investigated by SSF on mixed culture of rice straw and wheat bran (1:1). The physiochemical and kinetic properties of the active cellulases produced from A. fumigatus were investigated. The present study recommends that Aspergillus species isolated locally from Egyptian environment could be used for cellulase production by using available agricultural residues as substrates for enzyme production
