Abstract

In this respect, iron-chromium mixed oxides having the formula 0.1 Fe2O3: 0.9 Cr2O3, 0.15 Fe2O3: 0.85 Cr2O3 and 0.25 Fe2O3: 0.75 Cr2O3 were prepared by co-precipitation of their mixed hydroxides from their mixed nitrates and mixed sulphate solutions using NH4OH solution subjected to pubbling by a current of dry air free from CO2 flowing at a rate of 20 ml/min. The coprecipitation process was carried out at 50oC and at pH 8. The calcination process was carried out at 400, 500 and 600oC. The effect of composition of catalyst, preparation conditions, calcination temperatures and doping with K2O and Li2O on physicochemical, surface and catalytic properties of different prepared mixed solids were investigated by using TGA-DTA, XRD, N2 adsorption at – 196oC and CO oxidation by O2 at 200 – 300oC using a static method. Since it represents a serious problem to human life, and with the steady increase in the number of cars the seriousness of air pollution with carbon monoxide has become a problem compounded effects can not be ignored.
