Lettuce is rich in its containing of vitamin A. some other vitamins as Bl. B2 and Vit.C. It 15 also considered a source for elements calcium and iron . It is always found far from a salad. There are found areas In America aDd Europe some of it are grown to produce oil from its seeds which known as oil lettuce. The most importance group. 1- Butter varieties. 2- crisp varieties. 3- Cos or romain varieties varieties. In Egypt. the area planted with lettuce was 14013faddans in 1987 which produced 131582 tons, with an average • of 9.39 tons/faddan.
