Abstract

Control of soil-borne pests with hsating induced by mulching soils with polyethylene sheeting during hot wea, ther is a new, inexpensive and nonhazardous control method. Heat treatment of 8011 by steam for the control the soil-borne fungi is not used one large scale for an economic considerations. The use of plastic materials to protect crops in tunnels or greenhouses or for 9011 mulching is very common in Israel (Katsn et el. 1976). Control of soil-borne pathogene and weeds, by means of Bolar heating of the eol1, weB developed by Katen et a1. (1976) in Isreal. This is accomplished by mulching moist ened soil with transparent polyethylene sheets during this hot season, thereby increasing 8011 temperature and Killing. Plant pathogens. This method was found to be effective in controlling a variety of diseases.
