Abstract
This work was carried out to study the wheat and maize seed-attacking fungi. The topics of this study were :
1- Mycological survey and isolation of fungi associated with the fresh wheat and maize seeds. II) study the effect of certain treatments on the control of seed-borne fungi. III) Study the effect of seed-borne fungi on the seed germination and seedling growth of their hosts. IV) Mycological survey of wheat seeds during their. Maturation V) Studies on the incidence of ear rot disease of maize in dakahlia province.
During the study, seed samples of wheat cv. Giza 157 and of maize cvs. Balady ,Giza 2 and pioneer 514 were used.
The following results were recorded :
1- Mycological survey and isolation of fungi associated with the freshly-harvested seeds:
Fresh seeds of the 1984 harvest, were either nonsurface disinfected of surface disinfected prior to plating out on pda medium, supplemented with streptomyic in and oxgall for up to 10 daysat 25c. the results could be summarized .
