Abstract
Water buffaloes are considered as one of the most preferable species in Egypt in regard to its high milk quality and its meat palatability.
During the last decade attempts have been made to increase the productivity of the Egyptian buffalo through improvement of those factors affecting the reproductive potentials. So this study was conducted concerning post parturient buffaloes for studying some of the metabolic problems mainly ketosis. A survey study was conducted concerning post parturient ketotic buffaloes. So, 61 ketotic female water buffaloes were selected to this study and classified into four scores 0, 1, 2 and 3 while 4 considered as a control group . For examining ketosis some parameters was estimated as BHBA, glucose, HDL-C, LDL-C and cholesterol more over for studying the interrelation ship between ketosis and other metabolic disorders these parameters was estimated calcium, phosphorus and magnesium and for the evaluation of the relationship between oxidative stress and ketosis NO and MDA was estimated The results of the present study revealed that there was an increased level of BHBA and calcium, NO and MDA was found while phosphorus, magnesium, cholesterol, HDL-C and LDL-C was decreased.
