Abstract This investigation was conducted under the laboratory conditions of Seed Technology Research Unit. Agriculture Research Center, Mansoura Governorate during the period of 1997- 1999. The purpose was to asses the toxicity of ethanol extracts of harrnala, blue gum, barnoof, neem leaves, neem seeds and wormwood to Sitophilus oryzae (L.) and Sitophilus grainarius (L.l’. And the effect of plant materials ethanol extract (harrnala, blue gum, barnoof, neem ’eaves, neem seed and wormwood) and its concentrat\ons, storage periods and moisture content in wheat and corn grains on seed viability, seedlings vigor, insect infestation percentage and seed dry weight loss percentage. The tested wheat cultivar was (Sakha 69) and the tested corn cultivar was (single cross 10). Factorial completely randomized design was used in this study. The studied factors were: 1- First experiment: Ethanol extracts of harmala, blue gum, barnoof, neem leaves, neem seeds and wormwood were prepared and used to assess its toxicity effects on Sitophilus oryzae L, and Sitophilus groinarius L.. 2- Second eXDeriment: .Plant materials ethanol extract and its concentrations: Four concentrations ethanol (only), 2000 ppm, 4000 ppm and 8000 ppm) from ethanol extract of harrnala, blue gum, barnoof, neem leaves, neem seeds and wormwood were prepared and used as a seed protectants. Also, there were grains without any treatment (control). |
