Abstract A total of 165 rabbits (50 apparently normal and 115 freshly dead rabbits) collected from governmental and privately owned rabbitaries at Assiut province were subjected to post-mortem and bacteriological examinations for possible recovery of anaerobic bacterial micro-organisms. 53 C.perfringes isolates, 5 C.difficle isolates, 3 B.fragilis isolates, 2 C.sporogens isolates, 1 isolate of each of C.spiroforme and streptococcus anaerobius were successfully isolated with an incidence of 49.60, 7.70, 4.60, 3.10, 1.50 and 1.50% respectively. There was great variation between the prevalence rate according to their general health conditions. Out of 50 apparently normal rabbits 14(28.00%) rabbits were affected with anaerobic bacterial organisms, C.perfringens, C.difficile and B.fragilis were identified only. |
