Abstract

The present study planned to outline the diverse variations between males and females especially in regions of central nervous system and retina in normal condition as well as their response during neuronal intoxication. Females were highly susceptible to acrylamide intoxication more than males leading to marked loss of body weight. Examining the SDS-PAGE bands, there was variation in C.N.S regions and retina. Both males and female responds differently to acrylamide-intoxication. Acrylamide-treatment, the internal granular layer possessed necrotic patches associated with vacuolar degeneration of neuronal cells. There was marked increase of neuronal cells possessing pyknotic degeneration of their nuclei with characteristic compacted chromatin and dense eosinophilic cytoplasm.
