Abstract The present study was carried out on a comprehensive collection of tongues of various tetrpods which are related to different classes: Reptilia (Psamophis sibilans, Chameleon Chameleon, Gopherus gopherus, Tarentola annularis and Crocodylus niloticus), Aves (Strix flamae, Gallus gallus and Egretta ibis), Mammals (Mus musculus, Pasammomys obesus, and Erinaceous auritus). The present observations were preformed to examine the pattern structure of the dorsal lingual mucosa, organization, types of lingual papillae, taste buds and degree of keratinization. |
