Abstract The aim of this study is detection of active CMV infection by Real-Time PCR in chronic renal failure patients under different lines of treatment and assessment of their immunoglobulin status. Cytomegalovirus is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised and solid organ transplant recipients. CMV infection manifests in a variety of ways depending on the patient’s underlying disease and immune status. The high frequency of M-component among immunocompromised patients is closely related to increased susceptibility immunocompromised patients to CMV infection. The reappearance of the M component concomitant with CMV in transplant recipients emphasizes the connection between CMV and paraproteinemia. The aim of this study is detection of active CMV infection by Real- Time PCR in chronic renal failure patients under different lines of treatment and assessment of their immunoglobulin status. |
