Abstract This study was designed to evaluate the effect of ozone therapy on the prevention and treatment of hepatoma and was conducted on 200 albino white rats. All experimental rats were injected intraperitoneal by ozone gas two times/week for two months). The) studied rats were divided into 2 main part (Protective and Treatment) groups, each includes 80 and 120 rats, respectively. The pathological results of liver tissue of the preventive rats injected with ozone simultaneously intaking nitrosamine was greatly improved. Also, the hepatomic animals were improved after using ozone as a therapeutic agent after two months and partial improve was seen after four and seven months. Biochemical results includes liver functions (T.bilirubin, ALT, AST, GGT, AFP, Albumin, T.protein and DNA),oxidation- reduction parameters (SOD, Catalase, GSH, GSH-R, GSH-Px and MDA) and immunity (IL-6) were measured for two groups and were improved after using ozone. Prevention of hepatic tumors with ozone therapy was clearly observed especially at low ozone dose (50 μg O3/ml O2), where the higher dose (100 μg O3/ml O2) lead to toxicity. Also, ozone therapy at a low dose (50 μg O3/ml O2) can be used as an adjuvant therapy in the treatment of hepatic tumors diagnosed in the early stage. |
