Abstract Minimally invasive surgery offers several important advantages to the cancer patients needing surgery : less bleeding, less trauma , less risk of incisional hernias , wound adhesions , and postoperative infection ,, and quicker , less painful recovery. Even for patients with large abdominal and pelvic tumors , laparoscopic surgery may be still appropriate and superior to open surgery. • Studies have shown that data about laparoscopic rectal cancer surgery is still lacking , howevere it seems from the available data that laparoscopic rectal cancer surgery can be performed safely with oncologic out come similar to that of open surgery. |
