Abstract

This study was performed to evaluate the effect of ozone therapy on odontogenic infections both experimentally and clinically (by radiographic x-rays, microbiological, and microscopical study). Also, a systems biological approach was carried out to evaluate the putative aspect of fibrogenesis possibly induced by ozone mediators. Ten patients with chronic odontogenic infections were treated by regular major autohaemotherapy three times per week for 30 days (12 sessions) together with daily use of ozonated water as mouth wash. Based on results we can conclude that: -Ozonated autohemotherapy using an ozone concentration of 35 mg/ml was well tolerated by the patients, together with Ozonated solutions are very effective in eliminating the infectivity and promoting wound healing. -Ozone is a valuable adjunct in treatment of chronic odontogenic infections. -Within the mathematical model framework, we can predict what will happen after for example 40, 50 days of ozone therapy by increasing the exposure dose of ozone.
