Abstract

The study deals with the determination of the mineralization controls in the area bounded by latitude 26º 08’ 27”.66 and 25º 00’ 00”.00 N, and longitude 33º 15’ 12” E, to the Red Sea Coast, in the Central Eastern Desert of Egypt. This is based on the interpretation of, geologic data, landsat ETM+ images, magnetic, and field data in geographic information system environ. Geologically the area covered is made up essentially of Late Proterozoic (Pan-African) rocks.
The structural pattern of the study area display two main structural styles:
1- Transpressional style and
2- Transtensional style. Image processing techniques were applied on the raw image data to produce several thematic maps. Aeromagnetic data allows a visualization of the subsurface geological structures, and estimation of their depths. Using geographic information system (GIS) to integrate all datasets in order to build up a geodatabase for gold mineralization the main target of the study area. All input data were integrated together to construct a GIS model.
