Abstract Considering the several theories and suggestions en lighting the mechanism of action, many hydrazides and amides showed antimicrobial activity. Kojic acid, meconic acid dihydrazide and 3-hydroxychelidamic acid dihydrazide are the most promising derivatives of the-pyrone and-pyridine series of compounds. On this basis, the-pyrone and-pyridone rings are adopted to obtain a new hydrazides, hydrazones, thiocarbamoyl, sulphonhydrazides and amides taking the chelidamic acid, 1-(p-hydroxyphenyl)-3-bromochelidamic acid and 3-bromo chelidonic acid as the starting materials of choice. The antitubercular activity induced by some azo compounds derived from certain medicinal compounds, prompted the synthesis .of a new series of pyrone azo compounds via the Japp-Klingemann reaction. Certain new polynuclear heterocyclic compounds were also prepared in this work, enlightened by certain reported compounds. |
