Abstract
Compound 1 was prepared via condensation of 2,3-diphenyl-5-formy1-6-methoxyindole with hippuric acid in presence of acetic anhydrideand sodium acetate.
the oxazolone 1 reacted with hydrazine hydrate to yield oc-benzamido-B-(2,3-diphenyl-6-methoxy-5-indolyl) acrylazide (2) which on treatment with nitrous acid gave oc-benzamido-B- (2,3-dipheny1-6-methoxy-5-indolyl) acrylazide(3) . the latter compound when refluxed with dry benzene, decomposed with evolution of nitrogen to give 4-\2`,3`-dipheny1-6`-methoxy05`-indolyl) methyl\-6- phenyl-2H-1,3,5-oxadizine-2-one(4).
