Abstract The neuroleptics are wide group of drugs; some of them commonly used in daily medical practice. There are endocrinal changes that appear to be induced by neuroleptic The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of some neuroleptic drugs on plasma prolactin level. The study comprised thirty female patients and six control volunteers. Our patients included 12 neurotics with a mild depression and 18 psychotics; 12 of them with a mild depression and 6 with a moderate depression. All of them diagnosed through a careful psychiatriC and psychO- assessment using the 21-item Hamilton Rating Scale. diagnosis of neurosis and psychosiS was based on the criteria described by the Diagnostic Manual of psychiatric Disorder. of the studied individuals was taking any medications or suffering from any pathological conditions that might affect prolactin secretion. |
