Abstract Lumbar disc prolapse is one of the most common dis¬abilities of industrial employee. It is common in middle age group, and is responsible for a high financial loss as it implicates efficient and active labourers and is responsible also for a lot of compensation claims in labour injuries .. The aim of this work was to study the clinical mani¬festations and radiological signs in patients with low lumbar disc protrusion and to determine whether or not some human lumbar spine configurations could predict the possibility of herniation at one specific level more than ano ther. Sixty-five patients with low lumbar disc prolapse were subjected to detailed history taking, careful neuro¬logical examination, local examination of the back, lum¬bosocral plain radiography and lumbo sacral myelography. Then the patients were classified according to the result of myelography into 3 groups: ””Group I : Included 40 patients with L4_5 disc prolapse. Group II : Included 10 patients with L5-Sl disc prolapse. |
