Abstract

In the present study two groups of patients who were under immunosuppressive therapy, were studied for dermatoses affecting themq their frequencyv clinical presentation and possible aetiopthogenic aspect. Group I (fifteen renal transplant patients ) were recieving prednisonein combination with cytotoxic drugs for a period ranged from one month to seventy-two months* The second group (fifteen patients with neoplastic diseases ) were recieving combination chemotherapy for a per iod ranged from one month to fourty-eight months , Both groups were examined medicallyg bacteriologically, myologically and virologically . The results of this work has shown that whenever the immunosuppressive course of treatment is prolonged and maintained it is expected to have more chancesof increased susceptibility to infections . Alsoq the schedule of immunosuppressive drugs seems to be an important factor in predisposition to infections . Intermittent courses of drugs as given to group II of our patients have lowered the risks for infections among these patients whose immunosuppression were tested by DNCB .
