Abstract Aim of the work: Is to evaluate the pattern of myoelectrical activity recorded by EGG in different diabetic patients, and to detect, if present, if there is any additive effect of bilharzial heprosplenomegaly and partial hypertension on the gastric myoelectrical activity and hence EGG. Subjects and Methods: 40 diabetic patients were included in this study. Evaluation of autonomic nerve farction, electrocardiography, abdominal ultrasonography and electrogastrography were done to all patients. Results: * Significant increase in EGG abnormalities in diabetic patients, specially those with associated autonomic neuropathy. * Non significant changes in EGG parameters in diabetic patients with associated bilharzial hepato splenonegaly versus those without bilharzial hepatospleno megally Summary & Conclusion: EGG abnormalities and number of non respoders development of autonomic neuropathy in diabetic patients Recommendations: * EGG should be considered in evaluation of diabetic patients with upper GII dyspeptic symptoms. * Tight control of blood glucose level is associated with improvement in gastric dyshythmias in diabetic patients. |
