Abstract

Accordingly, this study concerned about the evaluation of some physicomechanical properties including water sorption, solubility, flexural strength, modulus of elasticity, fracture toughness and color change of two types of flowable composite resins after their immersion in two different brands of mouthwashes. Samples were fabricated in stainless steel moulds with different dimensions. They were prepared from two different types of flowable composite resins (Filtek Flow and Tetric Flow). Then, they were immersed in absence (control) or presence of either type of mouthwashes (Betadine or Hexitol). The immersed samples were than tested the results demonstrated that there was no significant effect of mouthwashes on water sorption. solubility and fracture toughness of flowable composite resins Regarding flexural strength, there was also no significant effect of mouthwashes on both types of flowable composites except in case of Betadine mouthwash where it caused a significant increase in flexural strength of Filtek Flow flowable composite. The modulus of elasticity demonstrated a significant increase in case of Tetric Flow immersed in Hexitol mouthwash and also in case of Filtek Flow immersed in Betadine mouthwash. In addition, Betadine mouthwash demonstrated a significant change in color types of flowable composite resins.
