Abstract This study was conducted at El·Serw Experimental Station, Animal Production Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture and Laboratories of Animal Production Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University\.The Present work aimed to study the effects of ammoniation of RS, form aldehyde treatment of CFM and yeast supplementation on dry matter intake, digestibility ofnutrient s. N balance, nutritive values, fermentation activities in the rumen and some blood parameters in sheep fed complete diets made from roughage with concentrate at the ratio of 50:50 (WfW). Berseem hay of the second cut was chopped before feeding. The CFM consisted of the following ingredients: 37 % yellow corn, 30 % undecorticated cotton seed cake, 20 % wheat bran, 6 % rice bran, 3 % molasses, 2.5 % limestone, 1 % common salt and 0.5 % minerals salt. Formaldehyde treatment was carried out at the level of IS HCHOII OOg CP of CFM by spraying. The effects of ammoniation of RS, HCHO treatment and supplementation with YC were studied through four metabolism trials using three adult sheep/treatment. Each metaboUsm trial lasted 4weeks. The first 21day were considered as a preliminary period and then followed by 7day for quantitative collection of faces and urine. The RS was ammoniated at 3 %(W/w) using anhydrous NH3 for 4 weeks.Rumen liquor samples were collected for 2 successive days using stomach tube from 3 rams of each treatment during two days following the collection period. Rumen liquor samples were collected at 0, 2, 4, and 8 hr post feeding.Blood samples were also coilected for 2 successive days after the metabolism trials from the jugular vein of 3 rams in each treatment at ° and 4 hr post feeding in heparinized test tubes. |
