Abstract This thesis shows the importance of the renewable energy in the human life especially photovoltaic power system. The photovoltaic power system is available, reliable, and clean source of energy. EGYPT has clearness weather, which is available for using photovoltaic in generating electricity. It is very important to have the correct size of the photovoltaic power system. The standalone solar photovoltaic power system is the type that will be designed in this thesis. The SASPVPS is no national grid electricity is brought in to meet the load. It is used to provide electricity for a remote site. This thesis demonstrates the proposed algorithm for the fivemethods executed for the optimum design of the standalone PV system. The optimum size of solar cells array and battery storage capacity can be determined with achieving a minimum value of loss energy. Array size and battery capacity is functions of solar insolation level and load demand. The main procedure of these methods is: 1.?Estimation of the hourly solar insolation, 2.?Calculation of the daytime load, nighttime load, and new daytime load, 3.?Calculate the initial module?s number, 4.?Optimization of the module?s number, and 5.?Determination of the storage batteries capacity. |
